Question about x-terra 70
Hi everyone.
I have been researching the X-terra 70 as my next upgrade. I have heard everything from it is the greatest detector ever to it is really bad. Has anyone out there used one and would you recommend it to someone else. The bad things I have heard is it is not very durable and will not hold up with hard use, and it does not go very deep. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks BP |

blpemberton, I just purchased one so it'll be awhile before I can answer that question first hand. I understand it is a good machine and Minelab does make good machines. You will always get pro and con opinions since not everyone likes the same makes. It's no different than cars. I bought it because I need a lightweight machine with a meter and a lot of the features it has. I do like Minelab So I look at it in a positive way but someone that favors a different brand would see it as a negative.

bipemberton,
Well I have a few more hours on my X70 and so far I like the machine quite well. My first trip was to a park near where I live that has a high volume of traffic during concerts. The problem is that the city has buried a lot of electrical cable to run power to vendors stands and the electrical interference is heavy. One of the features that I wanted from the X70 is the noise cancel and it worked very well at eliminating the electrical interference constantly present at this park. Here in Florida our ground is very neutral and does not need ground balance. I detected one of our saltwater beaches and did not have to use the Beach Mode balance. All I needed to do was lower sensitivty from 22 to 18. As far as depth is concerned I can't be specific. I did find coins at 7" with a decent signal but how much deeper than that I don't know until I have someone else with a Fisher or other Minelab to compare! Wally |
